Troubleshooting
- No sound from Audiout
Silent speakers usually mean the Mac's sound output switched away from Audiout. Here's how to check, and what else to rule out.
- A permission got turned off
What to do when the Audiout Setup window reopens because a system permission was revoked in System Settings.
- Launch at login won’t stay on
Why the “Launch at login” switch springs back off, and the two fixes — approve Audiout in Login Items, and run it from Applications.
- Volume keys stop working

- 'Saved settings couldn't be read' alert
What this alert means, why only one settings store was reset, and what you may need to set up again.
